Kevin was born in New York in 1955 where he grew up in his father's studio and developed a deep passion for the creation of shapes in many different media. By age 14 he discovered that clay would be his medium of choice and that the human figure would be his primary subject. At age 15 he traveled to Italy and studied the public works of Michelangelo, among many other Renaissance masters, and was deeply moved by the presence of their work.
His formal studies started in High School studying under Jim Wheeler, a student of Rodin, and continued in college studying anatomy and bronze casting under Tuck Williams at Northern Arizona University. Kevin then returned to the east to study under Roger Prince and Alexander Shundi at the Wooster Art School.
After working at foundries including Fenn Bronze, N.A.U., and Buffalo Bronze, Kevin discovered his love for working directly in wax and has made this his primary sculpture medium.
Kevin strives to endow his subjects with the same sense of energy, vitality and strength that he feels is present in all of humanity. He feels that the human soul can be reflected in any subject. His goal is to render this elemental sense by redesigning nature in accord with it's structural elements to produce the desired movement of shapes and bring life to the sculpture.
Deep conviction of this goal was realized to an even greater extent by Kevin when he, and his wife Jacqueline, survived the crash of United flight 232, Sioux City, Iowa in July 1989.
Kevin continues to sculpt at his studio in Durango, Colorado with his wife Jacqueline and his two daughters Kayla and Maria.
